The American Legion and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host an all-day Hiring Our Heroes Military Hiring Event for veterans and military spouses in Reno, Nev., on Aug. 22. The event will be held in conjunction with the 99th National Convention at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.,
More than 30 local and national employers and 30 service organizations are scheduled to participate with jobs available for men and women of all levels of experience.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it will begin with two workshops. The employment workshop will cover a variety of topics including civilian and federal resume building, networking and interview tips. The financial literacy workshop will teach individuals how to manage money, create a budget, track spending, pay down debt, and save for the future.
Immediately following, volunteer career coaches will be available to all job seekers who want to develop an elevator pitch, participate in mock interviews, or create a more effective resume.
Employers and job seekers are also invited to attend a networking reception with an employer panel focused on discussing veteran employment and recruiting best practices.
The event will culminate in the afternoon’s American Legion’s Small Business Resource Fair. This opportunity will bring together job seekers and employers providing networking opportunities and discussions on entrepreneurship for success.
