We currently have an Individual Flexible Premium Deferred Annuity Contract with Indexed Interest Accounts. The current accumulation value minus the surrender value would be offset by the original premium bonus. Would a surrender be beneficial now? – Jim

It sounds as if your index annuity may be working for you as you had intended. No losses when the markets were down and a nice seven percent return when things are good. What is causing you to rethink your strategy? Has something changed that makes what seemed like a good idea at the time unattractive now? We often see folks make emotional moves — bailing out or jumping into investments at precisely the wrong time. There are bound to be more tough market times in our future, so we think perhaps you should stay put. We also find it hard to get excited about paying significant surrender charges. It may make sense to just stay the course.
